Paralympic skier melts silver medal to make engagement ring
French Paralympic skiing champion Vincent Gauthier-Manuel had part of his silver medal from Sochi melted down and made into an engagement ring for his girlfriend.
Vincent Gauthier-Manuel has won six skiing medals at the last two Paralympics and rather than leave them collecting dust, he came up with a pretty good way to use a silver medal he earned at the 2014 Sochi games.
Gauthier-Manuel had part of the medal melted down and turned into a engagement ring to present to his now fiancée, according to OlympicTalk.

While this is obviously an extremely romantic and selfless gesture, you have to wonder if the skier's wife-to-be hasn't given him any trouble for opting not to use the gold medal he won at the same games.
