Roy Halladay goes to zoo with blogger

Zoo with Roy is a blog started over four years ago based on a simple premise: This blogger wanted to go to the zoo with then-Phillies ace Roy Halladay. The blog became incredibly popular in its corner of the internet, 'Zoo With Roy' accumulated nearly 15,000 Twitter followers, and even The New York Times covered the site. But finally, Thursday, it happened: The site achieved its raison d'étre. 'Zoo With Roy' went to the zoo with Roy Halladay.

Zoo with Roy is a blog started over four years ago based on a simple premise: This blogger really wanted to go to the zoo with then-Phillies ace Roy Halladay.

In the blog post commemorating the climatic event, 'Zoo With Roy' reflected on the reasons he chose Halladay as his muse in the first place:

"As a player, his stoic demeanor and unparalleled focus pretty much made him the most ironic- and funny- choice to be this website's namesake back in 2010. Not only was Roy a dominant new player to get excited about in the midst of historic Phillies success, but he was also (seemingly) the type of personality that would never in a million years acknowledge such an absurdity as “Zoo With Roy dot com."

Thanks to the Phillies' communications department, ZWR finally connected with real-life Roy on Thursday morning, and the pair hung out at the Philadelphia Zoo. For his part, Halladay looks like he's being a pretty good sport.
