Two pigeons delayed Wednesday’s game between the Pirates and the Tigers when they refused to leave the field. The bizarre incident happened during the first inning during Miguel Cabrera's at-bat.

Both sides tried -- and failed -- to scare the birds away. Tigers first baseman Cabrera slowly waved his bat around; the birds didn’t bat an eye. Pirates pitcher Vance Worley then rolled the ball toward the pigeons, who remained steadfast.

It took a Tigers ground crew made up of two men, armed with a bird-catching net and a box, to finally get the guests off the field.

The Tigers ended up winning 8-4.
