Amar'e Stoudemire says there's a reason why he's bathing in red wine

Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire posted a selfie on Instagram Wednesday. At first glance, it doesn't seem to be terribly noteworthy. The weird part is that it's a selfie of him taking bath. The weirder part is that it's a selfie of him taking a bath in red wine. No, for real.

This seems like a curious decision. But as we've pointed out earlier, there can be health benefits to STAT's boozy soak.

Amar'e himself has now had the opportunity to explain his reasoning.

The NBA's oldest players, then and now

“The red wine bath is very important for me because it creates more circulation of my red blood cells plus it’s very hot, so it’s like a bath, hot tub, but it’s also the red wine just kind of soothes the body, which follows up with a 90-minute massage,” Stoudemire told Jonah Ballow of Knicks.com. He also said he's been doing it for six to eight months.
