Vince Vaughn served as the grand marshal for Sunday's Daytona 500, but before the race he spotted retiring NASCAR great Jeff Gordon and decided the three-time champ needed a pep talk.

Vaughn corners Gordon and tries to get inside his head to help him calm any pre-race fears and talk a little bit about his upcoming movie.

Unfortunately for Vaughn, Gordon was not terribly interested in the actor's help and was actually just trying to make a phone call.

Gordon's Daytona 500 did not end so well for the former champion, as a last lap crash caused him to finish in 33rd place.
