Nationals' Jose Lobaton is still goofing around

Washington Nationals catcher Jose Lobaton remains one of the more entertaining baseball players of this season.

Washington Nationals backup catcher Jose Lobaton remains one of the more entertaining baseball players of this season.

Last month, he taped a baseball to the sweet spot of his bat, presumably to kickstart his hitting (in six games, he's 4-for-19 with one home run and four RBIs). Before that, he crowdsourced naming options for his (since-destroyed) Japanese Maneki-neko cat figurine.

On Saturday, his antics during the Nats' 1–0 win over the Mets in New York were equally entertaining, even if they were derived out of boredom (he didn't play).

Perhaps Lobaton's goofs are helping—since dropping six straight late last month, the Nats have won five of six.
