Spelling Bee champs compete against Jimmy Kimmel

Wednesday June 3rd, 2015

The Scripps Spelling Bee ended with co-champions again this season, and just like last year the winners, Gokul Venkatachalam and Vanya Shivashankar, visited Jimmy Kimmel as part of their victory tour, where the host challenged them to defend their title.

Things at the Jimmy Kimmel Live spelling bee are a little different than the national competition though, as the words are read by the show's beloved security guard Guillermo dressed as a bee, and when Venkatachalam asks for the country of origin of "debacle" he is told it is "from a dictionary."

Kimmel gets trounced by the champs and Guillermo's unconventional pronunciations, with the show's host passing on the final two words before handing off an enormous trophy and a pair of XBox Ones.
