Astros' Jose Altuve bit into his helmet in on-deck circle

Astros' second baseman Jose Altuve appeared to be trying to eat his helmet on Tuesday night

It is a situation every major league baseball player has been in: Waiting in the on-deck circle for that first at-bat in a night game and realizing he forgot to eat anything all day.

Astros second baseman Jose Altuve found himself in that position Tuesday night and came up with an elegant solution to an inelegant problem as he tried to eat his helmet.

It is also possible that Altuve was distracted by an extraneous piece hanging off the bill of his helmet and tried to bite it off before he stepped in the batter’s box, as the announcers deduced.

Either way, the moment was captured on film and makes for some excellent viewing.
