Watch: Stanford walk-on senior given scholarship, team goes wild

Linebacker Craig Jones was mobbed by his teammates after the announcement.

At the end of Stanford practice on Thursday, coach David Shaw asked walk-on senior linebacker Craig Jones to break the team down.

But before Jones had a chance to gather his teammates around him, Shaw made another announcement: Jones would be receiving a full football scholarship.

Jones's teammates mobbed him, hoisting the Modesto, Calif., native in the air in celebration. An emotional Jones broke the team down and received congratulations from his teammates and coaches.

Jones played in 11 games as a junior in 2014, registering two tackles. As a sophomore, he was named Stanford's outstanding special teams scout team player.
