Thursday A.M. Hot Clicks: lovely lady of the day Viki Odintcova; Novak Djokovic Dance Party
Dancing in Queens
I'm back. Thanks to Andrew Doughty, Ryan Wong, Dan Gartland, Brendan Maloy and Rohan Nadkarni for filling in while I was away. It makes me feel good about life when it takes five people to cover for me. Anyhow, there's a ton of stuff to get to, but let's start with Novak Djokovic dancing Gangam Style with a U.S. Open fan after his second-round victory over Andreas Haider-Maurer. Where does Djokovic rank among these other great sports-related dancing this summer?
Soap Opera in D.C.
No NFL team has been in the news more this preseason than Washington, and Wednesday things got a whole lot uglier. It all started last week when ESPN reporter Dianna Russini wrote a story that general manager Scot McCloughan wants to trade Robert Griffin III, but owner Daniel Snyder won’t allow him to. This prompted Scot's wife, Jessica, to write on Twitter that Russini got the scoop because she's having an affair with McCloughan's husband (though she used much more colorful language than "having an affair"). The Redskins quickly denied the tweets were real but it all blew up Wednesday when Jessica took to Twitter and apologized to Russini for her comments. On the bright side, at least the story made people forget Desean Jackson's sexist Instagram post and the destruction of RGIII.
Can Everyone Just Relax?
I check roughly 25 blogs in writing Hot Clicks every day and it seems as if every single one is down on Boston radio host Kirk Minihane for his "someone should kill Roger Goodell" joke. I'm not defending Minihane (who you might remember for the Erin Andrews controversy), but if you watch the clip, it's obvious he's joking. But look at how the story is framed on one site as opposed to another and you can see how a joke (albeit one in bad taste) gets blown completely out of proportion.
