Steve Bartman inspires nightmares within pretty much every Cubs fan old enough to remember his name. But a group of benevolent supporters are hoping to bring the legendary playoff scapegoat out of exile and to the Cubs’ upcoming wild-card playoff game on Wednesday.

This GoFundMe page is looking to raise $5,000 to fund Bartman’s trip to the game, which in all likelihood will be in either Chicago or Pittsburgh.

“Lifelong Cubs fan wants to make amends for 2003, let’s make it happen,” the page reads. “First we need to find him to get him to the big game. If anyone knows where he is at, tell him we are looking for him. The money would pay for his expenses including his ticket, hotel room, flights and a little spending money.”

The problem might be finding him, which might be an endeavor. But if they don’t find him, the proceeds of the GoFundMe will go to the Alzheimer’s Association. They’ve raised $1,413 so far, so their progress is worth monitoring, at least. Come on, Steve.

We’re willing to bet Bartman’s seat won’t be anywhere near foul territory.
