Carolina Panthers troll each other by singing Creed songs
Forget dabbing. Let the Panthers introduce you to “Creedbombing,” an item for which SI.com has yet to decide upon proper style.
If you were born before the year 1995, you probably remember Creed, the band, not Creed starring Michael B. Jordan (and if you were born after 1995 you may not be aware of the other Michael Jordan, in which case you really won’t find any of this funny at all).
With that said, Panthers linebacker Ben Jacobs talked to the Charlotte Observer on Wednesday and explained that the Panthers, currently on a playoff jaunt, have started “Creedbombing” one another. We will let him explain, but essentially you make people uncomfortable by singing Creed lyrics at them. Hits include “One Last Breath” and “Higher.”
“The key is you’ve got to make really deep, direct eye contact,” Jacobs said. “So if you Creedbomb someone you’ve got to look them directly in the eye.”
However, the Observer piece is far too critical of Creed’s cultural capital. That is a resonant band.
“We were just talking about how when we were younger bands like Creed and Nickelback were big,” Jacobs said. “We were laughing with the raspy voices and how much we still kind of liked the songs. It just started turning into singing it randomly, you don’t even think about it. It’s taken on a life of its own.”
