Lou Holtz has something in common with the guy he thinks should be president of the United States: They both failed miserably when they tried to get into professional football.
In a video released on Monday, the former Notre Dame coach says he’s supporting Donald Trump because “I’ve played his golf course, I’ve stayed in his hotel.”

In 1976, Holtz was hired as the head coach of the Jets. He went 3–10 and resigned before the last game of the season. Trump’s role in running the USFL into the ground has been well-documented.

Holtz ended up winning a national championship with the Irish, so he must be hoping Trump has a similar turnaround as Leader of the Free World.
