Alex Rodriguez has a dope art collection

New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez owns an impressive art collection in his South Florida home.

New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez has made a decent amount of money in his career.

I’m happy for A-Rod, who leveraged his considerable talent into two massive contracts, a polarizing-yet-always-interesting career and, apparently, a pretty sweet home in Coral Gables, Fla. And what does a multi-multi-multi-millionaire fill his sun-soaked home with? Well, in addition to some designer drugs (do we still have to say allegedly? allegedly), a pretty dope art collection.

Rodriguez’s home was recently the subject of a mini-spread in Architectural Digest, and the Yankees star has some expensive taste in art. From the story, we learn Rodriguez owns paintings from 20th-century maestros such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Andy Warhol. The story notes Rodriguez is a big fan of contemporary artists, including those hot in New York’s art scene.

“I've gotten to know these artists very well by visiting their studios and watching them work,” Rodriguez explains, adding with a grin, “and a lot of them come to see me play at Yankee Stadium.”

This is pretty cool, if a refined taste in art is your kind of thing. Me? My favorite part of the story was finding out Rodriguez has an in-ground trampoline. I would never stop jumping.
