Sharks' Joel Ward on playing during Warriors-Thunder Game 7: It sucks

Even some players on the San Jose Sharks are upset with having to play during the Warriors’ Game 7 tilt with the Thunder.

You can count members of the San Jose Sharks among those upset the Sharks’ Stanley Cup Finals opener is clashing with the Golden State Warriors’ Game 7 matchup with the Thunder.

The Sharks will start Game 1 of the Cup Finals at 8 p.m. ET Monday, while the Warriors tip-off at 9 p.m. With both teams calling California’s Bay Area their home, fans of both teams will have to make a big decision—or do a lot of channel flipping—Monday night.

“It sucks,” Sharks winger Joel Ward said. “I wanted to watch the game. I was hoping it’d be tomorrow.”

Sharks forward Tommy Wingels thinks leaving the house could be the key.

“There’s a reason you have 35 TVs at a sports bar, right?” Wingels said.

It sounds like the Sharks may keep the Warriors game on in between periods during Game 1. Fortunately for the Sharks, unlike some of their fans, at least they won’t have to miss any of their own game.
