Mike Tyson says ‘a lot of good stuff’ happened because of his face tattoo

Mike Tyson has no regrets about his face tattoo.

One fateful day in the winter of 2003, Mike Tyson decided to get an enormous tribal tattoo right on his face. You might think that’s the sort of thing he’d look back on now at the age of 50 and regret, but no.

Tyson told Sports Illustrated’s Jon Wertheim in an interview in this week’s magazine that he’s glad he had it done.

SI: Someone said you Google Mike Tyson, first thing comes up, face tattoo.

MT: Oh, man.

SI: Regret it or no?

MT: No. A lot of stuff happened out of this tattoo, a lot of good stuff. Other young athletes come to me and said, It’s because of you they call it the Mike Tyson. People have to register their tattoos. You have to have the likeness of your tattoo.

Thanks to a joking 2013 tweet from Tyson, rumors constantly swirl that Tyson had the tattoo removed or is planning to at some point. No, it sounds like it’s here to stay.
