The Miz, Jimmy Kimmel Live’s Guillermo Talk Strategy Ahead of All-Star Weekend Celeb Game

When it comes to NBA All-Star weekend, there’s nothing quite like watching celebrities showcase their best moves on the hardwood for the league’s Celebrity Game.

But before Team Ryan—coached by Naismith Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie, rapper Fat Joe and World Series champion Alex Bregman—took the floor against Team Wade (named after the team's captain and three-time NBA champion Dwayne Wade) on Friday evening at Jon M. Huntsman Center, WWE star Michael “The Miz” Mizanin and Jimmy Kimmel Live correspondent Guillermo Rodriguez discussed some important strategy before gracing the hardwood.

When Rodriguez walked into Team Ryan’s locker room, the Miz greeted him and shared his plan of action for the game. The wrestler planned to use a heavy dose of the pick-and-roll, one of basketball’s oldest but most popular schemes.

“Every time I get it, I am going to pass you the ball,” The Miz said. “I want some pick and rolls from you. I want you to pick and roll. If I tell you to come here Guillermo pick and roll.”

Rodriguez had the time of his life when he entered the game, despite not scoring any points. Even more, one of his second-half shot attempts resulted in the ball getting stuck in the right crevice of the rim and an unfavorable jump ball situation with Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf.

While Rodriguez didn’t exactly shine on the hardwood, teammates included, singer Kane Brown, rapper Cordae, WNBA All-Star Diamond DeShields, Pro Football Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson, TV host Marcos Mion, MLB legend Albert Pujols, actor Everett Osborne, rapper Ozuna and actor Sinqua Wells all got their shot as well.
