LeBron James Makes It Clear He Won’t Be Paying for Twitter
Being the leader he is, LeBron James just said the quiet part out loud for the rest of the Twitter community.
Elon Musk previously announced that as of April 1st, the platform will begin removing legacy verified checkmarks. In order to keep your blue checkmark on Twitter, individuals must sign up for Twitter Blue at a cost of $8 per month.
In addition, Musk has implemented a plan demanding that organizations pay $1,000 a month to get verified.
As Jimmy Traina previously reported, Sports Illustrated is among the many companies that will not be paying the $1,000 a month for the verification.
In response to the demand for money for a simple blue checkmark icon, James put the plan on blast. “Welp guess my blue ✔️ will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5.”
The simple, yet honest, retort has gone viral since the all-time leading scorer in NBA history issued it early Friday.
James, a savvy entrepreneur with a reported net worth of more than $1 billion, according to Forbes, can easily afford the monthly payment being sought by Musk and Twitter.
However, it’s the simple principle and we know James is a man of principle.
Count James, along with many other companies and athletes, among those who will not cave and pay this outlandish demand for an icon—one that quite simply is useless in the grand scheme of things.
