J.J. Watt, T.J. Watt to Be First Brothers Featured on Wheaties Box
The Watt brothers have made their marks on the football field. Now, they’re making history off the field.
J.J. Watt and T.J. Watt will be the first brothers featured on a box of Wheaties cereal, the famous brand announced. The other Watt brother, Derek, will be featured on the back of the box.
“Built around a uniting love for football, the Watt family is grounded in perseverance, togetherness and a commitment to doing the right thing when it matters most, while serving communities in their lives outside of football,” Wheaties executive Kathy Dixon said in a press release. “That’s what being a Wheaties Champion is all about, and one of the many reasons we’re so proud to feature J.J. and T.J. on the cover of this limited-edition box.”
It marks the first time two athletes will share the cover of the box since 1935.
“It is a childhood dream come true to be on the next Wheaties box,” J.J. and T.J. Watt said in the press release. “We hope this box is a reminder for athletes and people everywhere to persevere–on the field and in life–and always champion what you’re passionate about.”
Following the announcement, J.J. Watt posted a video on Twitter and joked about the company’s decision to have him share the box with his brother.
“C’mon. T.J is on the box. Three Defensive Player of the Year awards. [T.J.] has got one, and we share the box?! It’s still awesome, but I am going to have a conversation with someone over at Wheaties about this,” joked J.J. Watt.
