Karl Ravech Proves Sports Jinxes Exist In LLWS Walk-Off Home Run

ESPN's Karl Ravech proved that sports jinxes do exist during his call of the Little League World Championship game between California and Curaçao on Sunday.

Just moments before California’s Louis Lappe hit a towering home run over the left field fence, giving his team a dramatic 6-5 walk-off victory over Curaçao to win the Little League World Series, ESPN broadcaster Karl Ravech noted that Curaçao had “not allowed a home run at the World Series.”

Some might call that a jinx. California calls it heroic. 

“Challenged him and this game is over,” exalted Ravech. “Louis Lappe does it again. California, your Little League World Series Champs on a walk-off home run.”

After crushing the pitch, Lappe tossed his bat high in the air, leaping into the air as he rounded the bases. The Curaçao left fielder stared at the ball’s landing spot as California’s dugout exploded in celebration.

Lappe’s fifth home run of the series came one inning after Curacao’s Nasir El-Ossais hit a grand slam off California’s Max Baker in the fifth inning to tie the game.
