Buffalo Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins put a scare into his team’s fans Monday by posting a cryptic message on social media that made it sound as if he was leaving the team.

He even posed the question “wonder if it’s O.K. to eat ranch now,” in a sly reference to the city’s famed eponymous chicken wing sauce.

But barely 10 minutes after stating, “It was good while it lasted Buffalo,” the news broke online that Dawkins will sign a three-year, $60.5 million contract extension to remain with the Bills. The pact will make him the one of the NFL’s highest-paid offensive linemen.

So much for leaving Buffalo.

Dawkins returned to social media after the news dropped to reveal the truth.

“Yall are cra why would ever Leave Buffalo im never leaving guy Im buffalo for life,” Dawkins wrote.

Dawkins is now contracted with the Bills through the 2027 season, and he clearly won the internet Monday.
