2019 didn’t go as planned for pitcher Corey Kluber. He had a miserable start to the season and then broke his forearm in the beginning of May. Before getting the chance to return, Kluber suffered an oblique injury in September that forced him out for the remainder of the season.

In the offseason, Kluber was traded from Cleveland to the Rangers.

So where should fantasy baseball draft the Rangers new pitcher?

Find out what Inside The Rangers editor Chris Halicke and Shawn Childs say about Kluber’s fantasy baseball outlook in 2020.

Corey Parson: Hey what's up, it's Corey Parson, the fantasy executive here for SI.com. Hopefully Major League Baseball players and owners can get their act together so fantasy baseball owners can have their hobby back in these times. Joining me to talk some Major League Baseball, specifically the Texas Rangers, is Rangers Insider Chris Halicke and SI fantasy and gambling analyst Shawn Childs. Chris, let me ask you about Corey Kluber. What's his outlook coming into his first season in Texas?

Chris Halicke: Well, obviously, he's coming off of an injury-riddled 2019 season. He only made seven starts and in those seven starts, his numbers were horribly inflated. However, the stuff was still there. He was able to take the opportunity, all that time off, to look and fix some delivery issues. And now he's healthy. The Rangers liked what they saw whenever spring training was happening and before camps were suspended due to the coronavirus. So when things get back underway, the Rangers are excited about what he brings to the table. And, you know, like I said, the stuff is still there. And we all know how good of a pitcher he was. He's won two Cy Young awards. The Rangers are excited. He's healthy. This could be a steal of a trade.

Corey Parson: Shawn Childs, what do you think? Draft or pass?

Shawn Childs: I'm definitely drafting. His ADP is 98, he's really discounted for those seven bad starts. He struggled at the end of the year before with a 3.67 ERA on the stretch. And people kind of faded him the previous season. But, you know, he doesn't walk many guys and he doesn't give up a lot of home runs. His fastball has declined a little bit, has a plus slider, plus change up. Over the previous full season, he was 96-55 3.09 ERA, you know, excellent whip. He's a guy that's really going to help you and he's won probably four of the last five seasons. He's won over fifty percent of his starts. So Texas will score runs, but we think he's a really good fit and he's really getting drafted as a backend SP3 and a 15 team league and I think he's a real value and I think Texas will be happy with him in the change of ballpark is pretty good as well.

Corey Parson:All right, thanks a lot, Shawn. Thanks a lot, Chris. For the latest news from the majors, keep it locked right here at SI.com.
