Build a Powerful Golf Swing From the Ground Up

Lower-body strength is a key to a powerful swing. Here are two exercises to add yards.

Lower body power gets a lot of attention in the golf community. Power is a combination of velocity and strength, which also happen to be two characteristics of a good golf swing. Thanks to training instruments such as a force plate, PGA Tour players are obtaining new data about their swings and power output that takes their games to new heights. The greater the force a golfer exerts into the ground has a direct relationship to higher clubhead and ball speeds.

This video offers two exercises that can help you game with the following:

1. Increase your smash factor (Ratio of clubhead speed to ball speed)

2. Create more ground reaction force

3. Build a better connection to the ground in your stance and swing.
