After claiming the title in what’s widely considered the nation’s best boys high school lacrosse league, Calvert Hall College is No. 1 in the final High School on SI’s DMV Top 25 poll of the 2025 spring campaign.

The Cardinals (16-2 overall) won their first Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) A Conference championship since 2019 with a victory over Archbishop Spalding in the first title match to be decided in overtime. Calvert Hall, which also defeated then-national No. 1 Malvern Prep (Pa.) in overtime in March, ended McDonogh School’s bid of an unprecedented fourth straight MIAA A championship in the semifinals.

Spalding, which missed an opportunity at a first MIAA A title and claim as the nation’s top squad, finished No. 2. Landon School, which claimed a second straight Interstate Athletic Conference (IAC) crown and MIAA A semifinalist McDonogh and Boys’ Latin School round out the final Top 5.

The second 5 features Bullis School, Loyola Blakefield, St. Paul’s School, DeMatha Catholic and Mount St. Joseph. DeMatha won the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship for the first time since 2019.

Public state champions highlight the rest of the Top 25. Severna Park (No. 20) continued its historic run, claiming a ninth consecutive Maryland title (Class 3A). Kent Island (2A) and Urbana (4A) won crowns to finish 23rd and 24th, respectively.

West Potomac (tied for No. 25) ended a decades-long championship drought. The Northern Virginia squad held off Cosby Saturday to win the Virginia Class 6 title, its first state crown in any sport since 1990.
