Eagles, Steleers Flag Football Teams Announced for This Year's Big 33 Classic

The Eagles are hoping to collect their third straight champion in the event's third iteration.

The Eagles flag football team will attempt to go three for three in bringing home the championship at the Big 33 Girls Flag Football Tournament when it is held on May 23-24 at Cumberland Valley High School in Pennsylvania.

This is the third year the event will be contested. Last year, the Eagles team beat the Steelers side 12-7 in the final. The Maryland portion of the Big 33 will be represented as well, with the Commanders and Ravens also having teams compete.

“We’re proud to help showcase the talent of youth female athletes across the Philadelphia area and beyond,” said Brendan Clark, Coordinator, Youth Football and Community Relations, Philadelphia Eagles in a news release. “The Eagles are committed to providing resources, visibility, and meaningful pathways for girls in sport, and we look forward to supporting the impressive athletes who have been selected to compete in this year’s tournament.”

Big 33 takes tradition seriously

In addition to flag football, the Big 33 will host its traditional all start game on May 24th at Chapman Field. Before last season's game, which saw Maryland claim a win, the ball was parachuted down to the field before kickoff.

“Big 33 Weekend continues to be one of the most special traditions in high school athletics,” Executive Director of the Big 33 Garry Cathell said in a news release. “From the incredible talent of our athletes and the competitive games on the field, to the presence of special guests, buddy teams, military tributes, and moments of recognition and community pride, this year’s Big 33 Weekend is shaping up to once again be an unforgettable celebration of football, leadership, and opportunity.”
