Angels News: Eduardo Escobar Hopes Halos Don’t Trade Him at Deadline

In this story:
As the MLB trade deadline approaches, the harsh reality that some players will need to pick up their lives and move to a different city in the blink of an eye returns. It’s part of being a professional athlete and is the least talked about part of any trade.
For the Los Angeles Angels, they are expected to make a few moves at the trade deadline. It could be for them to go all-in towards a playoff push, or it could see them selling off some pieces to gain future assets.
One player that could be on the move is infielder Eduardo Escobar, whom the Angels just acquired from the New York Mets on June 24. The team brought him in to help them make a push toward the postseason, but since that time, they have fallen in the standings.
Escobar understands it is a business, but he hopes he can stay with the Angels for the rest of the season.
“You come in here, then we start losing and everything,” Escobar said. “The trade deadline is coming, and I don’t know what is going to happen. Hopefully, I stay here. I don’t want to be traded again. But I don’t control that.”
Per The Athletic
He was just traded a few weeks ago and is now facing the reality of having to move again. It can be difficult for anyone to get used to these types of situations, but it’s a reality for many in the sports world.
If Escobar is traded again, it won’t just be him moving. His entire family follows him to wherever he calls home in the league.
“Where he goes, so too does his mom, dad, sister, dog and even his best friend. He moved them all out West.”
Per The Athletic
The veteran infielder could provide a team with a nice bat off the bench. In 16 games with the Angels, he is hitting .250 and has five runs batted in. He has been around for quite some time and has seen it all, so it wouldn’t shock him if he is dealt again.
The Angels are in flux right now as they try to navigate the trade deadline. Luckily, it is approaching quickly, so we should have more clarity on their plans very soon.
