A common trend that has unfortunately remained within the Los Angeles Angels over their past couple of disappointing seasons has been the lack of a consistent bullpen. A number of factors can attributed to this such as injuries and little experiences for certain names but the front office has had time to fix it.

Over the last ten games played by your Halos, they sit at number 22 in the entire MLB when it comes to bullpen ERA with a 3.94. They have given up 72 hits and 39 runs over that time period.

It's no surprise why the Angels boast a 15-14 record right now and are fighting to hang on in majority of their matchups. Guys like Shohei Ohtani and Reid Detmers have been handling business when it comes to starting off at the mound strong since the first inning and even Jose Suarez finally found his footing in LA's 3-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.

LA is well-aware of the growing problem they currently have. There is no point in putting yourselves in prime position if your relievers and closers cannot finish the job.

It all starts with their GM Perry Minasian and he has been vocal about how they've invested money and time into bringing in experienced players for this but they will ultimately continue to ride on the power of those they develop.

“We have to do a better job of building our own,” said Minasian. “We are hoping as we go along and continue to have drafts and international classes, we’ll be able to do that, plus a combination of free agents, minor league signs. But the emphasis is on the guys that we develop.”

Minasain also believes that in order to find a consistent recipe for winning baseball, areas outside of just the bullpen need to be targeted for improvement.

“We’ve had a lead in a lot of games, which is a good sign,” Minasian said. “Now we have to find ways to close out those games, not just on the mound, but defensively, offensively, base running. It’s a team effort. A total team effort. We have to do everything better. It’s no secret.”

A plan is always great to have but it must be put into action soon.
