Jo Adell's career has been a picture of ups-and-downs.

The outfielder known for his big power stroke as he rose in the Angels' ranks to become the organization's No. 1 prospect has been unable to both find consistent playing time in the big leagues, nor show off the bat that he was famous for since he was first called up to the Angels in 2020.

Now, Adell faces another bump in the road, with this one coming on the injury front.

The 24-year-old was originally placed on the 10-day injured list in mid-July with an oblique strain, and as of July 30, there's no timetable for a return, per The Athletic's Sam Blum.

The news that Adell should return this season should be welcome for the Halos as they try to unlock the skill that Adell has shown off with regularity in the minors.

He's played the majority of this season with the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees, where he's put up a slash line of .271/.376/.580 with 23 home runs and 55 RBI.

Adell has only played in five games for the Angels this year, but looking at his entire MLB career, the outfielder's hit just .215/.260/.365 with 16 HR's and 63 RBI in 166 games, those contests coming over the course of four seasons.

And now he's looking at more time away from the field with his team in the middle of a hotly contest wild card race.

The Halos are four games back in the chase for the AL's final playoff spot after an extra innings win over the Toronto Blue Jays in their series finale, and the Angels are looking to make the postseason for the first time since 2014.

They look in prime position to do that after keeping two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani and acquiring pitchers Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez earlier this week, but Adell won't be joining that playoff push in any capacity for a while.
