Angels News: Newest Halo Has One Goal in Mind With New Squad

He is joining the perfect squad for him.

The Los Angeles Angels got active in the 2023 trade market a little earlier than expected due to the injury bug hitting them quite hard over the past couple of weeks. LA's front office had some big decisions to make regarding their infield depth and they ended up choosing to part ways with some of their top pitching prospects in order to add more experienced names.

One of their newest acquisitions is none other than former All-Star Mike Moustakas. He's on an interesting journey right now as the Cincinnati Reds released him before this season and the Colorado Rockies decided to take a shot on him, which didn't necessarily work out. Moustakas suited up in 47 games for the clubhouse while batting .270 to go with four homers.

He now finds his way onto an Angels squad that he has referred to as a contender. LA has been able to put together a ton of nice wins as of late but these injuries may serve as a roadblock for their goals moving forward. However, if Moustakas can turn back the clock and bring his slugging with him, they'll be able to continue positive momentum.

And the 34-year-old infielder confirmed that he only has one goal in LA and that is to win.

“That being said, that’s kind of part of the business that we’re in, and I get to come over here, make some new friends and join a contender. It’s exciting, man. We all play this game to win.”

Angels' superstar Mike Trout also spoke very highly of their newest addition.

“What a great dude, great player,” said Trout. “I’ve gotten to know him over the years. Just one of those things where you come up through the draft process, then you play with each other, build a friendship and we go our separate ways. Now we’re teammates, so it’s pretty cool.”

We cannot wait to see him hit the field!
