Report: Angel Stadium Concessions Among MLB's Worst

It's a problem of quantity, if not quality, according to this survey of all 30 ballparks

Frustrated foodies who have given up on the concession stands at Angel Stadium, take heart. It isn't just you.

In a ranking of the concessions at all 30 stadiums in Major League Baseball, one list ranks Angel Stadium 25th, worse than all but five venues.

According to Ontario Bets, only Kaufmann Stadium (Kansas City), Dodger Stadium (Los Angeles), Citizens Bank Park (Philadelphia), Fenway Park (Boston) and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum have less to offer their fans.

In the case of Angel Stadium specifically, the problem appears to be one of quantity, if not quality. The methodology went as follows:

To determine which MLB stadium offers the best food experience, we created an index that considered four key factors with individual weightings adding up to 10, and also factored in the value of the Canadian dollar.

1. Concessions Per Square Foot (ft²): The number of concession stands in the stadium divided by the overall stadium square footage.
2. Concessions Per Stadium Capacity: The number of concession stands in the stadium divided by the overall stadium capacity.
3. Price of a Beer, Per Ounce $ (2024): The average price of a beer per ounce during the 2023 season.
4. Price of a Hotdog $ (2024): The average price of a hotdog during the 2023 season.

To create the ranking, we combined the score of each factor to get a final index score out of 10. The higher the score, the better the stadium.

The Angels actually fared well in terms of Price of Beer, the first (and perhaps still most popular) initiative under owner Arte Moreno since he purchased the team in 2003.

They fared less well in square feet per concession, number of concessions relative to stadium capacity, and the average cost of a hot dog — a whopping $7.

Two brewpubs have opened their doors across the street from Angel Stadium in recent years, and both are popular pre- and post-game destinations for fans. Perhaps that's no coincidence.
