Where else can the Angels improve this winter?

In this story:

The Los Angeles Angels offseason has been an interesting one, to say the least. They have been active in adding to their bullpen while also talking to potential free-agent targets.

The big addition for the Halos has been reliever Robert Stephenson, who should help solidify the bullpen. But other than that, it's been more minor moves for this team.

The Athletic's Tim Britton, Grant Brisbee and Aaron Gleeman handed out letter grades for each MLB team based on their offseason so far. The Angels came directly in the middle, signaling they may still have some work to do this winter.

The Halos received a grade of "C" for their offseason, but there is still time to improve the rating. The front office has been engaged with multiple top-tier free agents and could strike iron at some point.

"The real offseason need for the Angels was a throw pillow embroidered with, “‘Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” So if someone could send them one of those, they’d really appreciate it. Hey, the 2001 Mariners somehow won 116 games the first season since 1988 that they played without Alex Rodríguez, Randy Johnson and Ken Griffey Jr. Maybe the Angels will shock the world and do just fine in a post-Ohtani world."

Losing Shohei Ohtani does hurt the Angels, but they believe they can still be competitive without him. With the young talent in their system, the Halos have faith that they can build a potential team to break their long playoff drought next season.

"That’s unlikely, though, so it appears that they plan to build a bullpen with a chance to thrive. This helps them prevent runs in the near term, and it might make them one of the trade deadline’s most popular teams."

The offseason is far from over, and the Angels still have plenty of time to improve the roster. As long as they stay active, they could always strike a deal with a free agent who they never thought they'd get this winter.
