Former Angels Reliever Joins NL Contender After Being Waived Again This Season

It has been an interesting season for relief pitcher Matt Moore. He started the season as a member of the Los Angeles Angels, but over the last month, he has become a member of two other teams.

Moore was part of the group that the Angels placed on waivers last month, and he was claimed by the Cleveland Guardians. But his stint didn’t last long in Cleveland, only appearing in five games for the Guardians.

He was then placed on waivers again, and now he has been claimed by the Miami Marlins. Moore will not be eligible to be on the Marlins playoff roster if they do end up reaching the postseason, but he could very well help them get there.

The veteran was a key piece to the Angels bullpen before he was originally placed on waivers, posting an ERA of 2.66 in 41 games with the team. He was a major target for teams when the Halos put him on waivers, but he saw his ERA jump to 3.86 with the Guardians.

It likely hasn’t been easy for him to just move around like this, and it has shown in his performances on the field. But he is a professional and will do what he can to help Miami out now.

It could be exciting for him to be in a spot to possibly help the Marlins get to the playoffs, even if he won’t be able to be a part of it if they do. But this is a chance for him to show what he can do over the last few weeks of the season.

He will be a free agent at the end of the season, so anything positive he can show will help him with his next contract. The hope is that he can perform well, and land a nice deal for himself in the offseason.
