Watch: Yordan Álvarez Launches Massive Home Run Against White Sox

Houston Astros slugger Yordan Álvarez launched a 442-foot mammoth moon shot on Opening Day against the Chicago White Sox.

The Houston Astros dropped a close one to the Chicago White Sox on Opening Day when they fell 3-2. White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease was on another planet as he pitched 6.1 innings of one-run baseball while striking out 10.

Astros ace Framber Valdez also had an incredible day, but he had to contend with traffic on the basepaths more often than not which shortened his day. Valdez pitched 5.0 innings and didn't allow a run while striking out four.

But the real highlight in the 3-2 loss was Yordan Álvarez's monster 442-foot home run in the ninth inning. It was a solo shot to the upper decks of right field in the bottom of the ninth.

Unfortunately, it didn't give Houston enough momentum to complete the comeback, but it did show that the team had some fight in them even down late with their backs against the wall.

Luckily for Houston they will have another opportunity on Friday while so many others around the league are off. The Astros play the White Sox at 7:10 p.m. CT on Friday.
