Bregman Confident He Can Shake Off Slow Start To Astros Season

Manager Dusty Baker and Alex Bregman remain calm about Bregman returning to his former glory.

Alex Bregman has endured slow starts before.

That’s why he’s not panicking after the first 16 games.

Bregman, one of the most clutch hitters on the Houston Astros, is hitting .194 with two home runs, seven RBI and a .333 on-base percentage.

He seems a bit out of sync at the plate and uncomfortable.

But Bregman has been consistently producing for the Astros since 2016, so there’s no need to worry. Not yet.

Bregman opened his career with an 0-for-17 skid.

Last April, he was hitting just .233.

Rewind back through his career and slow starts have been pretty common.

The Astros have won two World Series – 2017 and ’22 – and Bregman was a huge reason why they enjoyed that much success.

"He's a little bit in no man's land,” manager Dusty Baker said. “When you're early on breaking balls and a little late on fastballs, he has to close that gap to find his timing."

Bregman has spent extra time in the batting cage and made some minor tweaks.

History shows that Bregman will break out of the slump. Every player goes through them. In the past, he has worked his way through every tough start or mild slump.

There’s no reason to believe that it won’t happen again.

“It’s a matter of continuing to build off good swings and continue to gain momentum,” Bregman said.

Scan Bregman’s career statistics and it’s a safe bet to believe that he’ll finish the season with stellar numbers across the board. Along the way, he’ll also lead the Astros to plenty of wins and another possibility of a World Series title. History is proof of that.
