Houston Astros Linked as Potential Landing Spot for All-Star Ace

In this story:
The Houston Astros are locked in to be buyers at this season's MLB trade deadline. As the All-Star break is fully underway, the Astros are surging in the standings and look to pose as a real threat to the American League West-leading Texas Rangers in the second half.
Where the Astros could use an upgrade is in their rotation. While the rotation has held up well through the course of multiple injuries this season, adding a bona fide veteran starter would help ensure Houston continues to contend for the division and ultimately a World Series down the stretch.
Chicago White Sox ace Lucas Giolito was recently linked to the Astros has a potential at the deadline by Chron.
"Lucas Giolito is the most high-profile name of the bunch—he's a former All-Star with two top-10 Cy Young finishes on his resume, and he has a 3.45 ERA through 19 starts in 2023," writes Josh Criswell of Chron. "Giolito would undoubtedly help solidify an Astros rotation in need of another high-end arm."
With no names off the table in trade negotiations according to general manager Dana Brown, the Astros have the ammunition to pull off a trade like adding Giolito.
Whether or not the view the rotation or a versatile bat as the priority will be one to watch come Aug. 1.
