Houston Astros Star Trio Reach Incredible MLB Milestones
Three Houston Astros players reached significant Major League milestones on Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park.
Astros second baseman José Altuve, first baseman José Abreu and catcher Martín Maldonado all garnered career-marks in Houston’s 6-1 win over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.
Altuve became just the fourth player in franchise history to reach 1,000 runs — picking up the feat when he crossed home plate in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Abreu, meanwhile, tallied the 1,500th hit of his career with a double to center field in the bottom of the second inning.
Maldonado also made history on Tuesday night, belting the 100th home run of his career — as Houston’s primary backstop has now homered at least once against every single MLB team.
Following Wednesday night's contests, Houston currently sits 3.5 games behind the first-place Texas Rangers.
The Astros (39-29) return to the diamond on Thursday night against the Washington Nationals, while the Rangers (42-25) continue their homestand against the Los Angeles Angels.
