A Look Ahead: Houston Astros Slated to Face Rockies in Mexico City in 2024

The Houston Astros will open the 2024 season at home against the New York Yankees and will also be a featured team in a Mexico City matchup against the Colorado Rockies.

Mark your calendars, Houston Astros fans: the 2024 Major League Baseball schedule has already been released, with plenty of keys dates and marquee matchups to be circled as next season looms.

Sure, it's only the halfway point of the 2023 season, but it's never too early to look ahead, especially with a season opening showdown against the New York Yankees and an international battle against the Colorado Rockies in Mexico City on the agenda in 2024.

First and foremost, Houston will begin its 2024 MLB campaign on March 28 in the comfy confines of Minute Maid Park in a home series against the Yankees.

The Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers and Atlanta Braves are also also slated to face the Astros at Minute Maid Park over the first several weeks of the 2024 MLB season, with Atlanta making it's first visit to Houston (April 15-17) since clinching the World Series title in 2021.

Houston will also be taking part in some international action in 2024, as the Astros will face off against the Rockies in the Mexico City Series slated for April 27-28.

In addition to the Astros series in Mexico City, MLB will have a season opener Seoul Series featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers against the San Diego Padres in Korea, a London Series slated to host the New York Mets against the Philadelphia Phillies from June 8-9 and a Dominican Republic Series (Spring Training matchup) with the Boston Red Sex facing the Tampa Bay Rays from March 9-10.

"Major League Baseball is incredibly excited for this extensive slate of international games in 2024," MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said. "Our recent efforts have produced strong enthusiasm around the globe, and we look forward to building on that foundation with returns to Mexico City and London, while also opening the season in Korea for the first time.

"In addition, we can’t wait to celebrate the tradition of the sport in the Dominican Republic with our visit to Santo Domingo next March. We are thrilled that our fans across four different countries outside the United States and Canada will have the opportunity to see the game’s stars."
