These Astros Players Are Nominated For 2024 Houston Sports Awards

Plenty of Houston Astros players are up for the 2024 Houston Sports Awards that take place in January.

One of the best things that takes place in the community of Houston are the Sports Awards that will take place on Jan. 30, 2024.

The event will honor some of the year's most iconic athletes, legends, and moments in a night that hands out 10 awards to different recipients across multiple categories.

Selection committees are used to determine the winners of each award.

It should come as no surprise that many of the Houston Astros players have been nominated in these categories.

Star pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. will be the host of the seventh annual event that is headlined by former Astros' legend Lance Berkman being inducted in the Houston Sports Hall of Fame alongside Warren Moon and Cynthia Cooper.

Nominated for Athlete of the Year is Houston's outfielder Kyle Tucker, who is coming off an incredible season that earned him a Sliver Slugger award after leading the American League with 112 RBI.

Catcher Yainer Diaz is in the Newcomer of the Year category after an incredible rookie season saw him finish fifth in American League Rookie of the Year voting.

Framber Valdez's no-hitter has earned him a nomination for Moment of the Year.

Jeremy Pena has been nominated for the Community Impact Award.

It's been a great year for Houston sports when reading through all of the players and moments who are up to win these awards. Nominations were announced live on KPRC 2+ Tuesday and all the individuals in each category can be found on Houston Sports Awards' website.

The event will take place at 713 Music Hall starting at 6 p.m. local time. Tickets can be purchased here for those who are interested in attending the award ceremony.
