Offseason Signing Listed as Braves Best Kept Secret
After spending the first six years of his career in New York with the division rival New York Mets, infielder Luis Guillorme was recently non-tendered this past offseason and is set to begin his first season playing for the Atlanta Braves.
Throughout his career, Guillorme has made a name for himself as a utility player as he has found time consistently playing across third base, second base, and shortstop.
As the Braves are looking to build a roster capable of winning their second World Series since 2021, Bleacher Report recently listed Guillorme as one of Atlanta's best-kept secrets coming into the 2024 season.
"Guillorme doesn't provide much pop, with just five homers across six seasons with the Mets. However, he has a .344 career on-base percentage, with experience playing second base, shortstop and third base. Second base is where he's received the best marks, with four defensive runs saved and six outs above average for his career."

Aside from being able to play almost anywhere across the diamond, Guillorme also has a decent bat that can hit for consistency.
Coming off a down year last season where it seemed nothing could go right for anyone in the Mets clubhouse, Guillorme is looking for redemption this season after starting last year in AAA. Shortly after making his season debut in June, Guillorme suffered a calf injury in July that kept him out for a month. As he was nursing that calf injury after returning, his season ended with him slashing .224/.288/.327 and hitting just nine RBIs.
In 2022, Guillorme was one of the biggest strengths on a Mets team that nearly took the division away from the Braves. That year, Guillorme held an average of .273 and had a total of 81 hits while striking out just 46 times in 102 games played.
Aside from having a great eye at the plate and finding ways to get on base, Guillorme plays second base just as well as anyone in baseball, holding a career fielding percentage of .996.
In his first spring training with the Braves, Guillorme has looked as good as anyone in the Braves clubhouse and has earned himself a spot on the team's opening-day roster as he is slashing 278/.350/.389 with two RBIs and two doubles in just 18 at-bats this spring.
With Guillorme coming into his first season with the Braves, it could be a season filled with resurgence on the baseball field.
