Lineup, how to watch the Atlanta Braves series opener on Friday night against the Milwaukee Brewers

Atlanta travels up north to take on the 1st place Brewers for a three game set, starting Michael Soroka on Friday night

Fresh off of a sweep-averting game three win against Arizona that saw Austin Riley and Matt Olson turn Truist Park into a launching pad, the Atlanta Braves are leaving on a jet plane for Milwaukee to take on the 1st-place Brewers (52-43). The Brew Crew lead Cincinnati by 2.5 games and are hot right now, having won eight of their last ten games. Atlanta's sending Michael Soroka (1-1, 5.40 ERA) to the mound against Freddy Peralta (6-7, 4.41 ERA) in the series opener.

Pitching Matchup for the Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, July 21st

Starting for Atlanta is RHP Michael Soroka. The big Canadian is 1-1 on the season with a 5.40 ERA in his five appearances (four starts), with nineteen strikeouts in twenty-three innings pitched. He's fresh off of the first relief appearance of his career, throwing three innings in a bulk role against the White Sox on July 16th. After two early-season starts on the road, he went back to Gwinnett for further refinement of his secondaries and has looked much better since returning: 1-0 with a 3.12 ERA in his last three appearances, striking out 14 in his 13.2 innings (although he has been homer prone, giving up three in that stretch and six on the season).

Opposing Atlanta is Freddy Peralta. 6-7 with a 4.41 ERA, Peralta's improved his strikeout rate from last year's career low mark, striking out 10.4 per nine innings (113 in the season, in 98 innings). He's coming off his most dominant start of the season, where he held the red hot Cincinnati Reds to one hit in six innings with two walks and six strikeouts in an eventual 3-0 Milwaukee victory. No Braves player is especially successful against him, with Ronald Acuña Jr being 1-6 and Marcell Ozuna (3-13, 2 RBIs) the only one with an RBI against him.
