The Braves are still atop our NL East Power Rankings in mid-June

The Braves are still top of the NL East, but the Marlins are the real deal.

The Braves are still atop our NL East power ranks but the Marlins are still playing well and the Phillies are heating up.

This race could heat up and be fun as we get closer to the All-Star break.

Let's take a look at our NL East power rankings over 70 games into the 2023 MLB season.

5. Washington Nationals

Record: 27-42

Current/Upcoming Series: St Louis Cardinals

Previous Rank: 5

Early Season Recap: The Nationals are awful, and this year is going to be mighty painful for the fans up in our nation's capitol.

Who has Played Well: Joey Meneses continues to play good baseball, with his batting average sitting right at .300. Meneses has been a bright spot on a horrible baseball team.

4. New York Mets

Record: 33-38

Current/Upcoming Series: Houston Astros

Previous Rank: 4

Early Season Recap: It might be time to accept the fact that the Mets are just bad. They currently sit 12.5 games behind the Braves for first place, and I don't think they will compete for a Wild Card spot.

Who has Played Well: Kodai Senga has had a good year on the bump with a 6-4 record and a 3.53 ERA through 13 starts.

3. Philadelphia Phillies

Record: 38-34

Current/Upcoming Series: Atlanta Braves

Previous Rank: 3

Early Season Recap: The Phillies had a really good week getting their record four games over .500. They are eight games behind the Braves for first place but are heating up at the right time. A series win over the Braves would get them right back in this race.

Who has Played Well: Nick Castellanos had a good week raising his batting average three points to .315. The Phillies right fielder has had a big year so far in 2023.

2. Miami Marlins

Record: 41-31

Current/Upcoming Series: Toronto Blue Jays

Previous Rank: 2

Early Season Recap: The Marlins had another good week getting their record ten games over .500. At first, I thought this team might be a fluke, but I am 100% bought into the fact that the Marlins are the real deal.

Who has Played Well: Luis Arraez had a bad week, but his batting average is still sitting at .388. Seeing numbers like this 70 games into the season feels like a video game.

1. Atlanta Braves

Record: 46-26

Previous Rank: 1

Current/Upcoming Series: Philadelphia Phillies

Early Season Recap: The Braves just will not lose a series. The Braves are one of the best teams in baseball and had another excellent week. This team can win the World Series if everyone gets healthy and the injury bug leaves.

Who has Played Well: Ronald Acuña Jr. is hitting .325 70 games into the season and shows no signs of slowing down. Acuña Jr. does everything for this team and is my pick to win the National League MVP.
