In this story:

St. Louis Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak has been on an offseason-long quest to bolster the pitching staff.

The Cardinals were aggressive early on in their efforts to retool the rotation with three external additions and followed that successful pursuit by trading outfielder Tyler O'Neill for overall pitching depth.

Now that the missing innings have been accounted for, Mozeliak can start to find impact arms and shift his goal from quantity to quality.

In doing so, he should take a long look at left-hander Matt Moore, who has been fantastic since switching to the bullpen full-time two seasons ago.

The 34-year-old posted a 2.56 ERA with a 60-to-15 strikeout-to-walk ratio, .232 batting average against and a 1.16 WHIP in 52 2/3 innings between three teams last season.

Moore has a 2.20 ERA in 113 appearances since converting to a high-leverage reliever in 2022 and could be a perfect addition to the Cardinals bullpen.

Jojo Romero impressed from the left side last season but Moore would further provide balance to a right-handed heavy pitching staff.

Mozeliak has expressed interest in adding to his relief corps and Moore appears to be a perfect fit for St. Louis.
