Chicago Cubs Allow Dodgers to Even Series After Walk-Off Win

In this story:
That was a tough one for the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night as they lost to Los Angeles Dodgers after David Peralta hit a walk-off single in a 2-1 loss.
That now puts the Cubs at an 8-6 record and pushed the Dodgers above .500 with an 8-7 record. It seems like they have been able to win in every way lately. On Friday night it was a slugfest in an 8-2 blowout.
But on Saturday it was an old fashioned pitcher's duel in which Chicago came out with the loss. Starter Jameson Taillon went 5.0 innings pitched without allowing a single run. He walled two and struck out seven in what was an encouraging performance, the first one this season.
He gave way to the bullpen which featured Mark Leiter Jr., Keegan Thompson and Michael Fulmer. Leiter Jr. and Thompson pitched 3.0 innings of scoreless baseball.
However, it was Fulmer who put two runners on base and then gave up the walk-off single to Peralta in the bottom of the ninth. It was a tough scene for Fulmer who blew the save considering how steady he has been to start the season.
There were eight combined hits in this game, so offense was hard to come by. The lone run for Chicago was a Patrick Wisdom solo home run in the fifth inning off of Dodgers pitcher Michael Grove.
That one swing of the bat should have proved to be the deciding factor between these two clubs on Friday night. But it wasn't meant to be.
The Cubs will try and reclaim momentum on Sunday when they will try for the series win.
Sunday's game is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. CT at Dodger Stadium. Drew Smyly will appear for the Cubs while Julio Urias will take the mound for Los Angeles.
