Chicago Cubs Set Pitching Rotation for Colorado Rockies Series

The Chicago Cubs have set their pitching probables for their series with the Colorado Rockies, which starts on Friday at Wrigley Field.
All three games are set for 1:20 p.m. central.
Friday’s game will pit the Cubs’ Jameson Taillon (7-10, 5.27) against the Rockies’ Noah Davis (0-2, 9.58).
Taillon took the loss in his last start against Colorado last Wednesday. He gave up three earned runs and seven hits in five innings. He struck out five and walked one. The Cubs pushed him back a couple of days after that start. He is 0-4 with a 5.94 ERA in his last seven starts, with 38 strikeouts and five walks in his last 37.1 innings.
Davis, a rookie, threw two scoreless innings against San Francisco on Sunday. He struck out two. He has struck out 18 and walked 10 in his 20.2 Major League innings.
Saturday’s game will see rookie Jordan Wicks (3-1, 2.67) for the Cubs against Chris Flexen (1-8, 7.19) for the Rockies.
Wicks took his first MLB loss against Arizona on Sunday. He gave up four hits and three earned runs in 4.1 innings. He also struck out five and walked four. In 27.0 innings he has struck out 20 and walked nine.
Flexen last pitched on Tuesday against San Francisco and took the loss. He gave up five hits and four earned runs in 5.1 innings, while striking out five. He has a 6.08 ERA and a 0-3 record in his last seven starts, with 31 strikeouts and seven walks.
Sunday’s finale will feature Cubs right-hander Javier Assad (4-3, 3.04) against Rockies right-hander Ty Blach (3-2, 5.32).
Assad won his last start on Tuesday against Pittsburgh, as he gave up one earned run and five hits in 5.0 innings. He struck out eight and walked one. In his last seven starts he is now 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA with 34 strikeouts and 13 walks in 40 innings.
Blach lost his last start against San Diego on Tuesday. In 3.2 innings he allowed nine hits and seven earned runs. He also struck out three and walked two. He has a 2-1 record and a 6.31 ERA in his last seven starts, with 28 strikeouts and 13 walks in his last 35.2 innings.
The Cubs spend the final week of the regular season on the road, with a three-game series at Atlanta on Tuesday-Thursday and a three-game series at Milwaukee Friday-Sunday.
