The Chicago Cubs got a great performance from their starter Jameson Taillon on Friday when they needed it most.

One of the prized acquisitions of the offseason, Taillon has struggled for the Cubs in his first season. However, he stepped up big when the team needed him most, leading a much needed 6-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies.

Now, Chicago is set to get another boost to their starting rotation with the return of one of their stars.

After the game, manager David Ross dropped a shocking bombshell that Marcus Stroman is returning to the starting rotation and will be on the mound Saturday according to Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic.

It was originally thought that the star pitcher would play the remainder of the season coming out of the bullpen as he worked his way back from injury.

When Stroman did make his return, he made two appearances out of the bullpen, throwing three scoreless innings and allowing only two hits with four strikeouts.

The right hander had previously told Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, "I know that I've established myself as a starter, but to go out there and close games or to be used as an opener, to be used for a few innings in big-time roles, I think that's exciting."

For the time being, he'll be moved back into a starting pitcher role to try and solve one of the biggest things plaguing the Cubs during their tough stretch.

Stroman was one of the best pitchers in the league before his hip injury that sidelined him before he fractured his rib cartilage that kept him out even longer.

With their former ace back in the mix, this pitching staff gets a boost they desperately need during their final playoff push.
