Update: Chicago Cubs Starter Steele Leaves Against Rays With Forearm Tightness

Chicago Cubs starter Justin Steele left Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays early with forearm tightness.

Update: The Chicago Cubs announced that starter Justin Steele exited Wednesday's game with left forearm tightness.

The severity of the injury is unknown but usually forearm tightness does not bode well for a prognosis.

Inside the Cubs will continue to provide you with updates as they become available from the team.

Chicago Cubs starter and potential new found ace Justin Steele left Wednesday's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays after the third inning.

After pitching three innings of perfect baseball, Steele was visited by the Cubs' training staff on the mound.

Newly promoted Hayden Wesneski immediately began warming in the bullpen following the mound visit.

Wesneski then came in to start the fourth inning as Steele exited the game early.

It's not yet apparent what is ailing Steele, but leaving after just three innings pitched is never an encouraging sign.

Steele has been incredible for the Cubs during the 2023 MLB season. The lefty has compiled an impressive 2.77 ERA with a 1.108 WHIP over the course of 65.0 innings this year.

The southpaw has been one of best and most reliable starters in the National League.

It's not great news for Chicago who is relying heavily on their starting rotation to help get them back to winning ways.

While the extent of what is ailing Steele is not yet known, Inside the Cubs will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
