Chicago Cubs Trade McKinstry to Tigers In Exchange for Pitcher

The Chicago Cubs have made a deal with the Detroit Tigers that will send Zach McKinstry to the Tigers in exchange for a right-handed pitcher.

The Chicago Cubs have completed another trade as Opening Day and the 2023 MLB season draws closer. Chicago has reportedly agreed to a trade with the Detroit Tigers that will send infielder Zach McKinstry to the Tigers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Carlos Guzman according to Marquee Sports

McKinstry had a shot at making the roster and as recently as two weeks ago it seemed he was a near lock to make the team. His versatility is a key piece to his game and at first glance, it appeared the Cubs could have used it.

However, McKinstry hasn't found success at the MLB level yet. Over the course of three seasons, the infielder has hit just .208 before being acquired by the Cubs at last season's trade deadline.

Guzman on the other hand, has made it to the Double-A level where he has 1.1 innings pitched. At the High-A level, Guzman has 107.0 innings pitched and owns a 4.12 ERA.
