Former Cy Young Winner Makes Bold Chicago Cubs Prediction

Former Cy Young winner Jake Peavy made a bold prediction about where this Chicago Cubs team is heading.

The Chicago Cubs are onto something special. Not just because they defeated their divisional rivals the Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 on Opening Day. Not just because they spent over $300 million this offseason. And not just because they have a bonafide superstar now in Dansby Swanson.

But when you take all of it into account and then add the pure chemistry and passion this team has. . . now you're onto something special.

And that isn't lost on anyone, in fact former Cy Young winner and MLB Network analyst Jake Peavy believes in this team

"My bold prediction is they're gonna build a statue to the one David Ross outside Wrigleyville at some point in the near future," Peavy said. "And here's why. Dansby Swanson signed, Trey Mancini signed, Eric Hosmer.

"Their culture is now building for a good thing to happen in Chicago, just like it happened back in 2016 when these guys punched their ticket and they carried that Rossy guy off the field. He now gets to take this elderly group with a lot of young talent and mesh something special together."

Bold prediction indeed. But it is exactly what this front office and this team on the field believe they can do. It is how they have been built as they look towards the future.

Everything is looking bright on the North Side.
