The Chicago Cubs may not be without their ace Marcus Stroman for long after he suffered a finger blister during his start in the London Series.

In this story:

Chicago Cubs ace Marcus Stroman exited his start against the St. Louis Cardinals in the London Series early on Sunday.

After just 3.1 innings of work Stroman was removed from the game with a right index finger blister.

This has happened to Stroman before who missed two weeks back in 2018. It's not common, but Stroman has been here before.

Luckily, it appears he may not need a stint on the injured list this time or even miss a start.

Speaking after the game, Stroman was hopeful he would make his next start slated to come against the Cleveland Guardians.

Here is what Stroman said according to the Chicago Tribune:

"Stroman said he started to feel the blister emerge on his index finger during pregame bullpen. It became an issue in 1st/2nd innings and progressively got worse. He's dealt with it before in his career because of sinker/slider usage."

If Stroman can avoid the injured list, much less a single start, that would be a massive boost for the Cubs who are trying to prove they are not sellers at this season's MLB trade deadline.
