Chicago Cubs Now in Prime Position to Make Noise in Postseason Thanks to Brewers

In this story:
Entering Friday, the Chicago Cubs weren't in the playoffs.
They were tied with the Miami Marlins for the final Wild Card spot. A losing tiebreaker would keep the Cubs out of the postseason if both teams finish with the same record.
Chicago opened their series against the Colorado Rockies early afternoon on Friday, needing to get back on track after a poor run of play took them from the second Wild Card spot to out of the playoffs completely.
The Cubs did their job, winning 6-0. Then they had to sit around and watch what happened with the Marlins.
Thanks to their division rival Milwaukee Brewers, they're now holding the final Wild Card spot once again entering Saturday.
The Brewers throttled Miami 16-1 to help out Chicago.
If the playoffs started today, the two NL Central teams would face each other in the Wild Card round of the National League playoffs.
The Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers would be the two teams earning byes into the NLDS round with the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks facing each other in the other Wild Card series.
The regular season record between Milwaukee and the Cubs is tied at five wins apiece. Chicago has won the last two series between these clubs as well.
That's a good sign heading into a potential matchup between these two division rivals.
The Cubs a scary team if they get into the playoffs. Their offense can score on anybody, which will be needed when facing the potent pitching staff of the Brewers.
There will be a potential playoff preview between these two teams to finish the regular season when Chicago travels to Milwaukee for the final series of the year.
After the Cubs got help from their rivals, it's up to them to make sure they stay in the postseason picture.
